Backpack & School Supplies Project

PROJECT START DATE:  2018 – CURRENT  |  ROTARY AREA OF FOCUS:  Supporting Education

The students of today will be the problem solvers of tomorrow.

Cassia County School District is the 15th largest district in the state of Idaho (in terms of enrollment). Within the 2,500 square miles are 18 schools with a total enrollment of over 5,600 students (2023 data).

With such a large geographical area and the vast  socioeconomic backgrounds of the students and their families, many challenges and needs persist.

Many of the K-6 grade students in our elementary schools are classified as “Students from Low Income Families.” The cost of preparing for a new school year puts a strain on those families, and many students come to school inadequately equipped to learn.

Every child, regardless of their background or current circumstances, has the potential to create good in the world; Our goal is to make sure that they have the tools necessary to help them succeed…right from the start.

Small actions make big differences:

Since 2018 and every year since, the Burley Rotary Club (with the generous assistance of local businesses and individuals) provides some much needed assistance! We prepare and distribute school supplies to each of the K-6 schools in our district which are to be utilized at the discretion of each school during the year.

These supplies include: Backpacks, paper, headphones, calculators, expo markers, crayons, pencils, notebooks, and so much more!
