RECENT BLOG POST: What a spook-tacular time at the Burley Rotary Club! We were thrilled to hear from Heather and Troy Mortensen of the Haunted Mansions of Albion. Their behind-the-scenes look at how they create the magic was absolutely fang-tastic!Thank you, Heather and Troy, for sharing your hauntingly awesome insights!
Education has always been a key area of focus for our club. In recent years, our club has focused on providing school supplies to assist the kids in our area who are in need.
The Burley Rotary Club has been serving the Mini-Cassia community for over 100 years. Whether it be community events, school-supply drives, pageants, education scholarships, and so much more ... we strive to live up to our motto of SERVICE ABOVE SELF.
With the support and backing of Rotary International and other local Rotary clubs within our district, the Burley Rotary Club has helped bring clean water, medical care, and other support to communities all around the world.
Since 1988, we've seen a worldwide reduction in polio cases of 99.9%. Only two countries remain polio-endemic: Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Burley Rotary Club is helping to bring the case count to ZERO! We are so close. Join us in our cause!
Rotary encourages conversations to foster understanding within and across cultures. We train adults and young leaders to prevent and mediate conflict and help refugees who have fled dangerous areas.
We educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases like polio, HIV/AIDS, and malaria. We improve and expand access to low-cost and free health care in developing areas.
We support local solutions to bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to more people every day. We don’t just build wells and walk away. We share our expertise with community leaders and educators to make sure our projects succeed long-term.
Nearly 6 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation. We expand access to quality care, so mothers and their children can live and grow stronger.
More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.
We carry out service projects that enhance economic and community development and create opportunities for decent and productive work for young and old. We also strengthen local entrepreneurs and community leaders, particularly women, in impoverished communities.
Rotary members are tackling environmental issues the way they always do: coming up with projects, using their connections to change policy and planning for the future.
Every year the Burley Rotary Club discusses which primary areas we would like to focus on as a club. For the last several years, we have chosen to focus on the K-6 Grade Students in our area and helping prepare them for a successful year in school.
Many K-6 grade students in the Burley and Cassia County elementary schools are classified as “Students from Low Income Families.” The cost of preparing for a new school year puts a strain on those families, and many students come to school inadequately equipped to learn.
The BURLEY ROTARY CLUB recognizes that the students of today will be the problem solvers of tomorrow.
Every child, regardless of their background or current circumstances, has the potential to create good in the world; Some children just need a boost to reach their potential.
In our effort to help and support education goals in our local area, the Burley Rotary Club organizes and carries out a backpack and supply drive. Each year through our fundraising efforts, Rotary Foundation grants, and the generous donations of local businesses and individuals, we are able to donate thousands of dollars worth of school supplies and backpacks to the elementary schools in our area.
Through these small but important donations, we are better equipping the students of Cassia County to succeed – increasing their self-esteem and helping them start the year off right.
