Education, Service Projects: School Supplies

Annual School Supply Project to benefit local children

Providing for our local schools

We just completed our annual School Supply Project where we provide backpacks and school supplies to each elementary school in the Cassia County School District to help children in need. We had many generous local sponsors who helped make this project possible, including Burley Lion’s Club who gave us an opportunity to earn money by helping at the 2024 Spudman Triathlon. Here is our sponsor list:
  • Intermountain Cassia Regional Hospital
  • D.L. Evans Bank
  • First Federal
  • Kim Hansen Chevrolet
  • Idaho Central Credit Union
  • Dot Foods
  • Butte Irrigation, Inc.
  • Walmart Burley
  • Heartland Ag
  • Rotary District 5400 (via grant)

Serving a real need right here at home

Many K-6 grade students in the Burley and Cassia County elementary schools are classified as “Students from Low Income Families.” The cost of preparing for a new school year puts a strain on those families, and many students come to school inadequately equipped to learn. The BURLEY ROTARY CLUB recognizes that the students of today will be the problem solvers of tomorrow.
“Every child, regardless of their background or current circumstances, has the potential to create good in the world; Some children just need a boost to reach their potential.”
In our effort to help and support education goals in our local area, the Burley Rotary Club organizes and carries out a backpack and supply drive. Each year through our fundraising efforts, Rotary Foundation grants, and the generous donations of local businesses and individuals, we are able to donate thousands of dollars worth of school supplies and backpacks to the elementary schools in our area. Through these small but important donations, we are better equipping the students of Cassia County to succeed – increasing their self-esteem and helping them start the year off right.
